Pegasus Arenas
Construction & Refurbishment
We excavate a site and cut and fill as needed to create a level arena or sometimes create a slope to aid drainage. We will usually use 360º excavators to dig and compact the soil. Every site is slightly different and we will adjust as needed to varying soil types. We then erect kickboards around the arena using 8’ x 5” x 3” posts or 8’ x 4” machine rounded posts and two 6”x 1 ½” boards. We fence the arena using 3 x 12’ x 3 ½” x 1 ½ “ rails, and 1 x 12’ wooden gate with 2 x 8” x 8” x 8’ posts. We normally dig a @12” – 18” drain with a 2”/3”/4” perforated pipe around the excavated side of the arena, but usually inside the boards on the track and join it to a drain on the excavation line and into a soak-away or other ditch as agreed with the customer and planning authority. We will dig further drains as the ground conditions enforce in the arena. In particularly wet conditions we will lay the membrane through the drains. These drains are then backfilled with free draining stone. We lay @ 6” of free draining angular stone onto an interwoven membrane in the arena and then roll until firm and level. We then lay @5” of sand and whichever surface on top of a further needle punched membrane. We leave the site clean and tidy. We would usually anticipate subject to weather to be finished in 2-3 weeks maximum. We will landscape the surrounding area if it forms part of the quote and re-seed with grass to blend the site back into the surroundings. |
